Biorefineries, as is the case with oil refineries, consist of a structure focused on the production of various forms of energy (among which are the fuels) and chemical products, with the differente that begin with biomass instead of petroleum. Although the conversion of biomass through biorefineries appears to show a high potential for application, mainly driven by the sustainability of the process and the use of residual material for the production of alternative energy and high value added products.
