Feliciano Priego Capote

Feliciano Priego Capote obtained his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 2007 at the Córdoba University. His thesis work was based on the automation and acceleration of sample preparation and the development of tools to improve the analytical sensitivity and selectivity.

In 2007, he was granted with a postdoctoral fellowship (Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation) for a 2-years stay at the Department of Structural Biology and Bioinformatics at the University of Geneva (University Medical Center) under the supervision of Jean Charles Sanchez. During this period, Feliciano was focused on the development of an analytical method for qualitative and quantitative analysis of glycated proteins (post-translational modification caused by non-enzymatic reaction between specific amino groups and reducing sugars). As a result of this stay, he acquired a solid formation in mass spectrometry and was granted in 2009 with a “Ramón y Cajal” contract destined to the recruitment of top-quality researchers.

He came back to the University of Córdoba to work in metabolomics analysis applied to clinical and agri-food areas. He has been main researcher of three national projects and co-responsible of numerous contracts with several companies. He is author or co-author of more than 160 papers as well as 7 book chapters on different subjects and one book dealing with analytical applications of ultrasound. He has supervised 8 PhD and is co-author of several patents.

It should be emphasized the active contribution of Feliciano Priego to the optimization and development of more than 70 analytical methods in different application fields.
