In line with the University of Cordoba’s policy of excellence, the UCO is offering six scholarships to study at some of the most prestigious summer universities in the world, specifically:
London School of Economics (LSE): Founded in 1895, the LSE has an outstanding reputation for academic excellence and as a centre for political and economic debate. This higher academic institution specialises in the field of finance, particularly in the training of global leaders in the business and academic sectors. According to recent academic rankings, the LSE is the leading university in the UK (and Europe) in the fields of accounting and finance, ahead of Oxford and Cambridge. Fourteen Nobel Prize winners in economics, literature and peace have studied at the LSE since 1997. University of Cambridge:
Founded in 1209, Cambridge University is the second oldest university in England after Oxford. In 2010 the university was ranked fifth among the best universities in the world. Cambridge has turned out 61 Nobel Prize winners, more than any other university in the world. It has 31 colleges and six schools: Arts and Humanities, Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and Technology. Utrecht University:
Founded in 1636, Utrecht University is one of the oldest and largest higher academic institutions in the Netherlands and one of the most prestigious in Europe. According to the ranking of the best universities in the world compiled by the University of Shanghai, Utrecht University ranks 52nd in the world and 11th in Europe. In the 2007 report on universities published by Science Magazine, Utrecht University ranked ninth in the world, seventh in Europe and number one in the Netherlands. King´s College London:
Granted a royal charter by King George IV in 1829, the royal patronage of King´s College London is only shared by the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. King's College is recognised for its academic excellence and was ranked the six best university of Europe in 2010 by the British daily The Times. King’s College has several schools including the Arts and Humanities, Biomedical Sciences, Dental, Psychiatry, Law, Medicine, Science, Natural and Mathematical Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Social Science and Public Policy. Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS): This institution was founded in 1954 as the only Korean university specializing in foreign languages. The Seoul campus comprises 34 departments, 10 faculties and over 27 research institutes. It is one of the most prestigious universities in Korea and is renowned for training future diplomats. Some of the most outstanding programmes offered at the university include Translation and Interpreting Studies (specializing in over 10 different languages), Business Administration, Law, Social Sciences, Education and International Relations, in addition to Environmental Science, Engineering, and many others. Most of the degree programmes it offers are similar to those offered by the UCO and a large number of subjects are taught in English. The courses will be held in July and August 2013.
The UCO will co-finance 75% of the course fee (up to a maximum of 1.000 EUR), excluding accommodation and subsistence costs and a maximum of 300 euros for travel expenses. At Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, the 100% of the course fee will financed (a maximum of 800 EUR will be financed for travel expenses)
Students may obtain recognition by the UCO for credits awarded at the host university following approval by the mobility programme coordinator at their home faculty or school.
During their stay, applicants must be enrolled in an official First Degree programme (or its equivalent) at the University of Cordoba and have completed a minimum of 100 credits towards their degree. Students enrolled in official UCO master’s programmes may also apply.

Official certificate of English language level (B2 or higher), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Depending on the host University, a C1 level may be recommended.
Applicants must be admitted by the institution in charge of the organization of the courses and meet the institution’s own requirements. The University of Cordoba cannot be held responsible in the event that the host institution does not accept the applicant.
Sworn statement of not having previously received any scholarship or grant awarded under an international mobility programme offered by the ORI or by any of the UCO Faculties or Schools (excluding the Erasmus Programme), assuming his/her responsibility for any false or wrong information provided.
Applicants may choose up to a maximum of 2 courses at one or two of the above institutions. Language courses may not be requested. Priority will be given to courses that supplement those offered by the UCO. Students may also choose courses that are not directly related to their field of study provided they justify their choice (for example, engineering students who wish to take a course in Introduction to Economics)

Process and selection criteria are as follows:
Student’s weighted Transcript: For students currently enrolled in a master’s programme, marks obtained during undergraduate study will be taken into account. Marks (on base of 10) posted on SIGMA as of 30 September 2012 will be used to calculate the weighted averages. The ORI personnel will have direct access to the academic transcripts of the applicants for issuing a short version of the document, which will be included with the application. In the event of technical difficulties, academic transcripts will be obtained on the following or successive days.
Official certificate of English language level.
The UCO Global Summer Programme will attempt to distribute scholarships among the various degree programmes, schools and faculties in the most equitable possible manner, up to a maximum of 2 students per institution of origin or destiny. For Hankuk University of Foreign Studies only 1 vacant will be available.

Applications with the required documents must be addressed to the Director de la Oficina de Relaciones Internacionales. All applications must be submitted to the Registro General (Avda. Medina Azahara, 5. 14071. Córdoba) or the Registro Auxiliar (Ed. Paraninfo, Campus de Rabanales. 14071. Córdoba) of the University of Cordoba between 25 March and 15 April 2013 (both dates inclusive). Application forms and accompanying documentation may be sent by certified mail to the Registro General at the above address. Applicants who are awarded a scholarship must sign a scholarship acceptance form (Appendix 3
) and submit it to the ORI within 15 days as from the day following publication of the list of aid recipients. Except in cases of force majeure, students who decide to renounce to an awarded scholarship will be penalized in future scholarship procedures for international mobility at the UCO.
Scholarships will be paid directly to the recipients in two instalments. Payments will be made by bank transfer to the account indicated by the recipient. Recipients must figure on the account as the primary account holder.
The first payment (80% of the total amount of the scholarship) will be made following submission of a document certified by the host institution indicating that the course has started (Appendix 4
) to the ORI of the University of Cordoba.
The second payment (20% of the total amount of the scholarship) will be made after completion of the stay and following submission of a document (original and copy) certifying successful completion of the course to the ORI of the University of Cordoba. In case of poor academic performance, students will be required to full reimbursement of the awarded amount.
All aid awarded under this call will be subject to current tax legislation.
