CV:

Pilar Guerrero is senior Lecturer at the University of Córdoba, Spain. She has mainly conducted her research within a functionalist framework, focusing on the relationship between lexical semantics and grammar, on the one hand, and grammar and discourse, on the other. P.C. Hengeveld supervised her Ph.D. on Transitivity as a prototype category in Functional Grammar (an English-Spanish-German contrastive study), which was awarded by the University of Córdoba in 1997. She has been visiting scholar at the Universities of Amsterdam, Nottingham, Munich and Hildesheim. Over the past decade, she has published essays on a range of topics, including transitivity in grammar and discourse, aspectuality and morphosyntactic alternations. While the earlier publications are framed mainly within the Functional Grammar theory of Simon C. Dik, later work also incorporates insights from the Goldbergian version of Construction Grammar and from Systemic Functional Linguistics. She is co-editor of Where Grammar Meets Discourse. Functional and Cognitive Perspectives (University of Córdoba, 2006) and editor of Morphosyntactic Alternations in English. Functional and Cognitive Perspectives (Sheffield/Oakville: Equinox, 2011).
