La Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos, creada por Decreto de 12 de diciembre de 1963, inició su actividad en octubre de 1968, impartiendo los estudios de Ingeniero Agrónomo en sus diferentes especialidades. Fue la tercera en impartir estas enseñanzas, después de las Universidades Politécnicas de Madrid y de Valencia.
Por Decreto de 22 de mayo de 1989 se autorizó la impartición de los estudios de Ingeniero de Montes, pasando a denominarse Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos y de Montes (ETSIAM). Es la única Escuela que imparte esta titulación en la Comunidad Autónoma Andaluza.
En el curso 1999-2000 comenzó a impartirse la Licenciatura de Enología, compartida con la Universidad de Cádiz.
La Escuela ha tenido su centro durante casi cuarenta años en un edificio emblemático situado en el Campus de Menéndez Pidal.
En el año 2005 se comenzó el traslado por Departamentos al Campus Universitario de Rabanales junto a otros tres centros de la Universidad; Facultad de Veterinaria, Facultad de Ciencias y la Escuela Politécnica Superior. Este traslado culminó durante el pasado curso 2007/2008, encontrándose la ETSIAM distribuida por los edificios departamentales del Campus y la dirección de la misma en el edificio Paraninfo.
Sin perder el espíritu de centro que siempre ha caracterizado a la Escuela, el ambiente universitario del Campus de Rabanales, las posibilidades de sinergias con los otros centros, hacen de este título un lugar ideal para formar a nuestros titulados en los grados y máster que la sociedad demanda actualmente.
The Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos, ETSIA) at the University of Cordoba (UCO) began its academic activity in 1968, providing a degree in Agricultural Engineering with different specialities. In Spain, the ETSIA at the UCO was the third one after the Polytechnic Universities of Madrid and Valencia. In 1989 it was authorized to provide studies in Forestry Engineering. As a result, the School was called the Higher Technical School of Agriculture and Forestry Engineering (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos y de Montes, ETSIAM). The ETSIAM is the only centre in Andalucia that can provide a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Forestry Engineering. In 1999 the ETSIAM began to offer a degree in Enology too. These days, the ETSIAM is located in the Rabanales Campus -together with the Veterinary and Sciences Faculties and the Higher Polytechnic School.
This fact makes it possible for students from the different sciences to collaborate, making Rabanales the ideal campus to train our students in the way our present society demands.
During the 2008-2009 academic year, the number of students at ETSIAM is 1057 (656 in Agriculture, 380 in Forestry and 25 in Enology). The ETSIAM has bilateral agreements with 55 European Universities (allowing the mobility of more than 40 outgoing and 50 incoming students) and also with American countries such as the Universidad Nacional de Lomas de Zamora (Argentina) and La Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua (2 exchange students). Besides, thanks to an agreement between the ETSIAM and the Concepción University (Chile) and Chile University (Santiago de Chile) it is possible for students to obtain a double degree in Forestry Engineering (6 exchange students). It is equally possible to get the double degree at the Cranfield University (UK) (MSc). Therefore, the number of exchange students at ETSIAM is around 10%.
