The Agricultural Entomology research group at the Department of Agronomy, which works on the improvement and commercialization of this system to fight the olive fruit fly, travels to Greece to attend this training

thumbnail IMG 6982Within the framework of the ENICBCMED project Fruit FlyNet II, which came about to perfect a prototype trap for the olive fly in order to be able to capture and identify it through photographs taken daily, Unit of Excellence “María de Maeztu” – Department of Agronomy University of Cordoba (DAUCO) team wich works at the project has assisted to the training on e-traps and e-services which took place in Athens (Greece) from June 15 to 17 together with the other partners from Greece, Italy, Tunisia, and Lebanon.

During this meeting, many activities according to the meeting agenda have been carried out. This training is considered of special importance for the team since a knowledge transfer has done from the leading beneficiary to the other partners.

The components of the new prototype of the e-trap and its construction were the main issue on the first day. Also, the team shared and discussed their field experiments. During the second day, they participated in delving into different details of the electronic services.

The UCO team was involved in learning more about the components and operation as well as the capabilities of the Location-Aware System (LAS) and the basic electronic services.

During the field visit (third day), they had their first contact with the trap in operation.

Now with the necessary knowledge, UCO team is working to complete the acquisition of the components of the system to be installed and in full function during autumn 2022
