Department of Agronomy


The Department of Agronomy at the University of Córdoba has currently 27 professors: 12 Full professors, 8 Associate professors and 7 Assistant professors. Most professors have over 25 years of teaching and research experience, assigned to the Higher Technical School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering.

The Department participates in the traditional Degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Forest Engineering, Oenology and Public Works Technical Engineering as well as in the new Degrees in Agri-Food and Rural Affairs Engineering, Forest Engineering, Civil Engineering and Energy and Mineral Resources Engineering. The participation of professors of the Department is also relevant in the direction of End Carrier Professional Works and PhD thesis. Regarding this aspect, is noteworthy their role in training specialists in the cultivation of olive trees, through two PhD programs with quality indicators from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science and the International Master in Olive Growing and Oil Technology.

The research activity of professors highlights for its long history of quality, the approach to the agricultural sector with the overall goal of increasing the productivity of resources while minimizing negative environmental impacts (sustainable agriculture), and the high degree of collaboration with other researchers, government agencies, private companies and farmer associations. As indices of this activity should be identified: the high assessment of faculty and research groups in which professors are integrated, as well as the great ability to get funding through calls for research projects, contracts and agreements with public agencies and private companies.
