Animal Medicine and Surgery Department
This department is one of the most emblematic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine because it encompassed the specialties of Surgery, Medicine and Reproduction since the nineteenth century, which had a strong international impact since the mid-twentieth century.
Since 1947 a great educacional, research and assistance expansion had been making in the old Faculty, located at Avenida Medina Azahara, always fully in line with the social needs of every moment, going from rural Andalusia to the technological one, from the days when animals were an instrument to the pets and the defend of its rights. During this period the Faculty Clinical Services were protagonists of the changes and progress that led to the hospital we know today. In 1997 we moved to the new facilities of the
Rabanales Campus, specifically the building of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the HCV. Our HCV is unique in Andalusia and has enormous national and international prestige. Currently more than 40 teachers specialized in a variety of disciplines (medicine, surgery, reproduction, diagnosis, anesthesia, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, rehabilitation, etc. ) with extensive experience and training have transformed the teaching of our Department, adapting to the needs of the XXI century: interaction with students, new technologies, computer applications, virtual classroom, effort and entrepreneurship philosophy.
The faculty of the Department has received various national and international prizes and awards in recent years, which confirms the quality of teaching and research in our facilities .
