The University of Córdoba’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine achieves European Excellence
The Centre’s teaching and research quality, the campus and facilities at Rabanales, including the relationship between students, teachers and administration personnel have today been the main references for Córdoba’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the evaluation process which it has undergone to obtain approval from the EAEVE. This has been clear to Giovanni Re, chairman of the group of experts from the association, who has spent a week visiting the centre to experience first hand the excellence of the faculty and propose its inclusion in the group of best Veterinary Science Faculties in Europe, of which there are approximately fifteen.
Re has presented the conclusions of the group of experts to the Chancellor, José Manuel Roldán Nogueras, the Vice-Chancellor, José C. Gómez and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Librado Carrasco, and more than 200 students, teachers and employees at the centre. In his report, the group evaluator emphasised the strengths of the faculty and detailed a series of proposals for improvement, such as the increase in clinical practice for the students.
The approval by EAEVE for Veterinary Medicine was necessary to attain accreditation from the European Veterinary Committee, who guarantees the excellence of centres in the European Union. In their report, the evaluators encouraged the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to continue working until they succeed in becoming one of the five best European centres.
Both the Chancellor and the Dean of Veterinary Medicine have welcomed the report and have taken the opportunity to congratulate their staff for their dedication.
