is research interests lie in Restoration and 18th-century English poetry (Aphra Behn, John Dryden, Alexander Pope), the sociology of the literary text (Hester Pulter, Rachel Jevon, Katherine Philips), the Romance-to-Novel shift, the advent of the English novel, and the reception of English literature in Spain (Cadalso, Jovellanos, Francisca Larrea, Alberto Lista, Juan Valera, Blanco White, Belmonte Müller). He has directed four doctoral theses and is currently supervising another two in English Literature.

His articles have been published by Reichenberger, Peter Lang, Brill, L'Harmattan, Cambridge Scholars, Dykinson and Comares. He has participated in conferences and scientific meetings, at which he has given some 100 talks. He has been invited to give lectures at University College London, the University of Nîmes, Eötvös Lorant University, University of Clermont-Ferrand and other European institutions. He has been guest editor of a themed issue on Cervantes and culture (Open Cultural Studies, De Gruyter).

He belongs to the research team of the current Project "Web Portal of History of Translation in Spain" (PGC2018-095447-B-I00), and to the research team of the current Project "EMOTHE: Spanish and European Theatre of the XVI and XVII Centuries: Patrimony and Database." Juan de Dios Torralbo Caballero is a member of the "Research in English and Related Literature (HUM-682)" Group, and of the Grundtvig European project "ForAge."
