Research Networks

PROLEARN

PROLEARN is a 'Network of Excellence' financed by the IST (Information Society Technology - Contract number 507310) programme of the European commission dealing with technology enhanced professional learning. Its mission is to bring together the most important research groups in the area of professional learning and training, as well as other key organisations and industrial partners, thus bridging the currently existing gap between research and education at universities and similar organisations and training and continuous education that is provided for and within companies.

HEUR

This research network was created in 2002, subsidized by TIC2002-10886E project of the Spanish Inter-Ministerial Commission of Science and Technology. It was initially composed by 15 research groups with a total of 100 members. The main objective of this network is the diffusion of metaheuristic methods, together with the interaction between the different groups.

MIDAS

The Spanish Network of Data Mining and Learning (TIC2002-11124-E) main objective is the idea sharing and collaboration of the different research groups associated. In July 2006, it has been requested the network renovation, the network being composed by 37 research groups with more than 300 researchers, including about 150 Ph.D. researchers.

Data Mining is an interdisciplinary area, whose general objective is the data prediction and/or the relation discovering in databases. Moreover, Data Mining can perform a descriptive task, e.g., discovery of patterns that can describe studied data, or a predictive task for forecasting a model based on the available data.

Main research lines considered in this network include: Decision Rules, Decision Tress, Association Rules and Neural Networks.

RADI-AEB

The Research Network RADI-AEB (Andalusian Network of Evolutionary and Bioinspired Algorithm Research) is focused in the development of new models and its application in real problems of the social and productive Andalusian environment. At this time, the research of the groups belonging to this network is developed with a double perspective:

ISTANET

Istanet, achronym of  "Intelligent Systems Andalusian Network", is a research network that includes the more than 300 specialists that work in Artificial Intelligence areas in our autonomous region (Andalusia, Spain). The initiative of its creation is one of the multiple initiatives that the Andalusian Research Programme (PAI) started in 2001 for coordinating the Andalusian research groups.

The fundamental tool for the developing of collaborations between its components is the website www.istanet.net, where the information about the research groups, the different activities and the C.V. of their scientists is regularly updated. This network has made possible the creation of new research lines, joint projects composed of groups that previously work individually and a better use of public and private resources regarding the development of intelligent systems able to mimic the human behaviour in information processing machines.
