The University of Córdoba is committed to the internationalization of its R&D&I with the “Impulsa-UCO” project

In the resolution of the Presidency of the State Research Agency dated December 13, 2017, the University of Córdoba was selected, among more than 60 universities and research centers, to obtain funding through the “EUROPA Redes y Gestores-Europa Centros tecnológicos 2017” call, belonging to the State R&D&I Program of the Subdirectorate General for International Projects, of the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness.

These grants from MINECO are aimed at creating or reinforcing structures that promote the participation of research groups affiliated with the beneficiary entities in international projects, especially in the “Horizon 2020” Framework Programme.

The project submitted in this call, “IMPULSA-UCO” (Commitment to Europe: consolidation and revitalization of the internationalization of R&D&I at UCO), has received funding of €149,456.40 for activities between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019.

During this period, there is a commitment to promoting the participation of new researchers in international programs and consolidating groups with more experience in these types of projects. Special emphasis is placed on the calls of the ERC (European Research Council) and the so-called “Grand Initiatives” of the Horizon 2020 Program. Likewise, efforts are made to involve new entities, preferably companies, each year.

In this context, promoting the consolidation of the Office of International Projects is of particular importance, moving from being a purely administrative service to taking on a proactive, facilitating, and incentivizing role in internationalization at UCO.

This is undoubtedly an ambitious proposal that will have a significant impact on increasing the visibility and prestige of the University of Córdoba at the international level. It will contribute to improving its research positioning by increasing the number of applications, success rate, and leadership in international R&D&I programs, while also enabling knowledge transfer through the formation of new consortia with the industrial sector and participation in technological platforms.
