Macarena Palma Gutiérrez

Macarena Palma Gutiérrez is a full-time lecturer at the University of Córdoba and was previously a beneficiary of the prestigious FPU pre-doctoral programme of the Ministry of Universities. She is a member of the Cognitive and Functional Linguistics Research Group (HUM-693) and holds a PhD from the University of Cordoba. Her main areas of research are cognitive and functional grammar, the framework of constructions, semantics, pragmatic-discursive analysis, usage-based models, and corpus-based studies. She has participated in several national and international conferences, including her contribution to the 3rd International Europhras Conference 2019, where she won the prize for the best research paper in the junior category. She has completed a 3-month pre-doctoral stay (funded by a competitive grant from the Ministry of Universities) at KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium) in 2020, under the tutelage of Professor Dirk Geeraerts, head of the Quantitative Lexicology and Variational  Linguistics research group. He is an active member of academic organisations such as AEDEAN,    ESSE and AESLA, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the Bibliography of Metaphor and Metonymy (MetBib) of the prestigious John Benjamins Publishing House. In addition, she was a member of the Organising Committee of the 42nd AEDEAN Conference 2018 and is co-editor of the post-conference volume entitled 'Advances in English and American studies: current developments, future trends'. She has also participated in several teaching and R+D+i projects funded in both national and local competitive calls, among which the one entitled 'Research on conceptual metonymy in selected areas of grammar, discourse and sign language with the help of the metonymy database of the University of Córdoba', whose Principal Investigator is Professor Antonio Barcelona Sánchez, stands out.
