7 million euros funds for 6 technology development projects of the University of Cordoba

Six research teams of the University of Cordoba and the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence ceiA3 are participating in six technology development projects promoted by the Interconnecta program of the Centre for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI), funded by the European Union, with a total funding of more than 7 million EUR. The aim is to search for technological solutions in strategic markets such as agrofood and artificial intelligence.

A new method to characterize pathogen contamination in pork meat

This technique, based on mathematical calculations, enables definition of optimal storage temperature for these products, with the aim to avoid appearance and development of microorganisms such as Salmonella or Listeria monocytogenes
Researchers at the Bromatological Hygene Research Group (HIBRO) from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cordoba and the Agricultural Technology Institute of Castilla and León (ITACyL) have developed a new method to determine how Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes pathogens propagate in fresh pork. These organisms are characterized by their ability to survive at very low temperatures and can compromise consumer health when present at high concentrations. Researchers analyzed how changes in temperature affect concentration levels of these pathogens in meat products, from the moment of the point of sale until they reach households .

Andalusian Engineers and Surgeons develop the first Spanish surgical robot with 3D vision

An Andalusian team of engineers and surgeons, mostly from Córdoba, is working on the development of the first Spanish surgical robot prototype with 3D vision, which successfully passed a first demonstration. This equipment will provide significant advantages over traditional laparoscopic systems thanks to its innovative technological specifications and results from collaboration between public sector and private enterprise.

New restoration materials to preserve heritage building facades

Experts from the Inorganic Chemistry Research Group of the University of Córdoba are developing new building materials for restoration of historic buildings, such as products for facades with a 'self-cleaning' ability. To prepare these materials, experts have used components obtained from industrial waste recycling, recovering their value and preventing storage in landfills and other associated environmental impact.

Members of 'Vitenol' Research Group at the University of Córdoba, which is part of the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence of Andalusia (ceiA3) received the XXXV Research Award 'José Luis Iglesias Messiah' granted by Santa Ana University Center to best research work presented at the Symposium of Enology and Viticulture in Tierra de Barros.
