The Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Córdoba, was established in 1976, with the arrival in Córdoba of Prof. Jose María Marinas Rubio. Besides Prof. Marinas, following its creation, the department was formed by Profs. Mª Ángeles Aramendía Lopidana, Juan Manuel Campelo Pérez and César Jiménez Sanchidrián.
Currently, the department staff is composed of 6 full professors, 3 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 2 Temporary Professors, 1 Professor Emeritus, 1 administrative specialist and 2 laboratory technicians. Since its creation, the Department of Organic Chemistry has been directed by Profs Marinas Rubio, Sinisterra Gago, Campelo Pérez, Urbano Navarro, Romero Reyes, Ruiz Arrebola, Romero Reyes and Marinas Aramendía.
The department teaching assignment includes subjects of grades in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electronics Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The pos-grade teaching duties include a Interuniversitary Master in Applied Chemistry, the Doctorate Program in Fine Chemistry (with Quality award) and the Master in Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching.
The research activities of the department are developed within the research groups FQM-162, FQM-346 and FQM-383 of the Andalusian Research Plan (PAI).
