March 23, 2017: after a long break for administrative reasons, SIA resumes its activities today. We are now in a favorable international context, as Open Data policies are being developed in the European Union and other countries. By the moment, Open Data is a political commitment and its development will take time and, above all, a mentality change of those who are responsible for obtaining the data to be shared. At the same time, we need new ways for the recognition of data authorship. In the field of animal feed evaluation, the existence of a global information system, such as Feedipedia is essential. This global system should be associated with local databases, which could make available the information obtained at local level. These local databases may be diverse for the same country, but it is important that the information systems are interoperable, which implies a homogenization in terminologies and software. It is evident that the multiple use of data is already part of our life. We will try to make the animal feed sector understand this and we are willing to collaborate, directly or indirectly, if needed, in the development of data sharing systems at national and international level.
