RELATED ORGANISMS

In this page you can find some links to international institutions which have activities related to SIA:

Spanish Foundation for Animal Nutrition Development (FEDNA)

FEDNA Tables and Regulations for compounded feed formulation are very important in Spain. They include information about a lot of raw materials, with special emphasis on concentrates, and they can be consulted on-line.

French Association of Animal Production (AFZ)

It has a database (IO-7), which is working from 1989 and accumulates more than 2 million data. It has developed a webpage (Feedbase) in collaboration with the Research Centre on Animal Production Economy and Manage (CEREOPA) where, among other technical contents, you can find on-line access (only for registered users) to IO-7 statistics. There is a free access to data about a "weekly feed". Nowadays, AFZ is working on feed tables for warm regions (Feedipedia) in collaboration with FAO, INRA and CIRAD. SIA participates as a partner organization in this project, having collaborated in the development of the sheets about olive leaves and olive cake.

Product Board Animal Feed (PDV)

It is a Dutch institution. One of its sections (Centraal Veevoederbureau) is dedicated to manage a feed database that contains more than 1 million data, and develops feed composition tables and feeding software. Database is not available on internet, although there are some products on-line, like a nutritive value calculator (to use demo: user = DEMO, password = demo).

German Agriculture Society (DLG)

This organism inherited the old Hohenheim University database, one of the pioneers in this field, and has on-line access (only for registered users) to that database completed with new data (Datenbank Futtermittel). It is possible to consult a free demo.

International Life Science Institute (ILSI)

It has developed a database available on-line (Crop Composition Database), although it contains data about only three crops: corn, cotton and soybean.

DairyOne

It is an American technological cooperative, dedicated to analyze different materials, forages among them. It has an on-line database (Feed Composition Library) with the statistics of the laboratories results.

Feed Resources Information System

It is a database developed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with the base of "Tropical Feeds" project. It contains sheets about composition and nutritive value of feeds from temperate and warm areas. At this moment, this database is being updated by a collaboration project among the French Association of Animal Production (AFZ), the Research Center for Agricultural Development (CIRAD), the French Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and FAO (Feedipedia).

Sub-Saharan Africa Feed Composition Database

It is an International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) project. Database developed allows on-line access to individual values about feed samples from different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

EuroFIR

It is a partnership between 47 universities, research centers and enterprises from 25 different countries. Its aim is to develop human food composition databases. The Spanish database can be accessed on the website of BEDCA.

International Spectroscopic Data Bank

It was created by EuroSpec project and pretends to accumulate spectra about all type of biological samples.

Iberian Flora

It is a project of the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) Royal Botanical Garden. It has developed an on-line database about synonyms, homonyms and recommended terms about Iberian flora nomenclature (common and scientific names).

Public University of Navarra

It has a web database (Herbarium) about grass and trees from the Iberian Peninsula. It contains botanical aspects, ambient requirements, common uses, etc.

Swiss animal feeding database (Futtermittelkatalog)

This database contains information from different countries: Germany (DLG), Netherlands (CVB), France (INRA) and Switzerland. It is managed by Agroscope.

Amino acids database Ajinomoto Eurolysine

Ajinomoto Eurolysine laboratory is accredited by COFRAC for amino acids analysis and it has developed a database containing information about 20 amino acids content in more than 25 feedstuffs. Besides, this laboratory has developed a tool to calculate amino acids content from crude protein value.

MAGRAMA Knowledge Platform

It collects information about Spanish agriculture and livestock. In section "Observatory of proven technologies", sub-section "Production Systems and Animal Nutrition" you can find a reference to SIA activities.
