GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL ABDULAZIZ SAUD AL-BABTAIN'S AWARD OF RESEARCH ON HISTORY AND CULTURE OF AL-ANDALUS (FOURTH SESSION)

The interest of the Andalusi cultural heritage, in its various modalities ranging from art to literature and science, still is an inexhaustible source of research. The University of Cordova and the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation calls for the "The First International Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Award of Research on History and Culture of Al-Andalus (FOURTH Session)", with the purpose of contributing and invigorating the scientific and recovery task of a part of our legacy, the Andalusian. This is held in collaboration with Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Chair of Arabic Culture and the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, expert in the importance and projection of the whole cultural and scientific legacy gathered and originated in al-Andalus throughout several centuries.

1. AIM
The present project aims at granting three awards to the three best research works on one or more aspects related to the history and culture of the Islamic presence in al-Andalus: the first award will be provided with 20,000 $ USA, the second award with 10,000 $ USA, whereas the third award will be publishing the research presented by the the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, in Kuwait, with a print run of 1.000 copies.

2. CHARACTERISTICS

2.1 The profile required from the submitted research works is that of the scientific contribution (Medical Sciences) carried out by Andalusi authors. The research about such scientific contribution must include the edition of an 'Andalusi manuscript work' (or more than one, if necessary for the research) which is unpublished. Therefore, the research presented that does not include the edition of a manuscript is out the scope of the present award.

2.2 As for admission, the research must have a minimal size of 250 sheets of paper and should not exceed 400 sheets of paper, all typed in double space on only one side. They will necessarily have to be written in one of the following European languages: German, Spanish, French, English, Italian or Portuguese.

2.3 Works must be presented in their original form, not a copy. All the works must have a title, written on the cover page, together with the full name of the author, his address, NIF (or, instead, the Passport Number), e-mail and telephone number.

2.4 The winner of the Award must submit in diskette the presented work, which will have to be processed in Word (Microsoft).

2.5 In accordance with article 14 of the legislative Royal Decree 1/1996- April 12, which approves the Revised Text of the Law of Intellectual Property, the rights of reproduction, distribution and publication of books and documents are established as follows:

1) The winners should commit, in the same document of the award presentation, to transfer, exclusively, the rights of reproduction, distribution and publication of their works, to be able to proceed with the publication of the award-winning works.

2) The winning works become directly part of the property of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation.

3. REQUIREMENTS OF THE PARTICIPANTS
To possess a University Degree.

4. AMOUNT
The first two awards will have an endowment of 20,000 and 10,000 $ USA respectively; the third will be published.

5. PRESENTATION OF THE WORKS

5.1 The works will be submitted in a closed envelope with the legend: "The First International Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Award of Research on History and Culture of Al-Andalus (Fourth Session)- Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Chair of Arabic Culture of the University of Cordova", at the General Registry Office of the University, located at c/ Alfonso XIII, 13, 14071 Cordova, or in otherwise stated forms in the article 38.4 of the Law 30/1992, November 26, of "Régimen Jurídico de las Administraciones Públicas y del Procedimiento Administrativo Común" (Legal Rules of the Public Administrations and of the Common Administrative Procedure).

5.2 The following documents will also be submitted attached:

a) A letter addressed to the Director of the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Chair of Arabic Culture, Prof. Dr. Juan Pedro Monferrer Sala (Faculty of Arts - Pl. Cardenal Salazar, s/n 14071 - Cordova), where the intention of participating in accordance with the general terms and conditions is stated, signed by the author of the work.

b) Documents duly authenticated that accredit the attendance of the requirements demanded in the general terms and condition 3.

c) Declaration signed by the author, indicating that the work submitted has been neither awarded nor published beforehand.

5.3 The submission deadline for the works and documents previously cited is by 14 hrs May 20, 2019.

5.4 The submission of the application form to the Award entails the acceptance of all the stated general terms and conditions.

6. JURY

6.1 In order to analyse, assess and judge the submitted works, the Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain's Chair of Arabic Culture of the University of Cordova - Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation will propose to the Chancellor the appointment of the following members with a view to setting up an expert Jury:

1. President: The Chancellor of the University of Cordova or the person delegated by him.

2. Members: Three Professors of Arabic of a Spanish University; two of them Arabs appointed by Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation.

3. Secretary: A Professor of a Spanish University.

6.2 The Jury will meet from June 1, 2019. Those who in any way are attached, personally or collectively, to the supervision of any of the submitted works or bear any personal links to the edition of the Award are incompatible with taking part in the cited Jury.

6.3 The Jury will assess the submitted works following these criteria: originality, scientific rigour, appropriate methodology and relevance of the matter concerned.

6.4 The Jury's performance will be regulated by the norms contained in the present call supplemented by what has been arranged in the Law 30/1992, of November 26, of "Régimen Jurídico de las Administraciones Públicas y del Procedimiento Administrativo Común" (Legal Rules of the Public Administrations and of the Common Administrative Procedure).

6.5 The Jury members will examine each of the submitted works separately, and will meet in December, 2019, in order to forward the awarding proposal, which will be submitted to the Chancellor of the University of Cordova.

6.6 The jury is authorized to address and sort out all unforeseen issues in the general terms and conditions that may arise.

7. AWARDING
The Award, based on the decision of jury and at the proposal of the Chair of Arabic Culture of the University of Cordova, will be granted by the Honourable Chancellor of the University of Cordova and Mister Abad al-Aziz Saud al-Babtain in the duly announced date which will be communicated to the winners.

8. PAYMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTIFICATION OF THE AWARD
The payment of the two Awards will be effected following the presentation of the Jury certificate where the name and DNI or Passport number of the two prize-winning persons must be accredited, together with the relevant report of the civil servant responsible for the award proceedings. The third Award will be delivered through a supporting document and subsequent post mailing of the research publication by Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, in accordance with the number of copies established by the parts.

9. PUBLICATION
Since this is a competitive concurrence procedure and in accordance with the foreseen by the article 59.6 of the Law 30/1992, of November 26, the integral acts of it will be published and hung in the notice board of the Vice-Chancellor's Office, the web page of the University of Cordova, the web page of Abdulaziz Saud Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation, and in any other site that the University or the Foundation would find convenient.

10. CLAIMS
In accordance with articles 116 and 117 of the 30/1992- 26 November Law, legal regime of public administrations and common administrative procedures, in article 6.4 of the 6/2001,21- December Organic Law, related to universities and article 34.1 of the statutes of the University of Córdoba, against the present resolution as well as against the resolution of the awarding of the prize, claims can be filed through administrative procedures for a process of reconsideration by the same jury with the objective of possible modification within the period of one month from the day following the date of publication. If not, The present document or the resolution can be challenged directly through administrative appeal before the Administrative Court of Córdoba, within the period of two months since the day following the date of publication, in accordance with articles 8.3 and 46 of the 29/1998- 13 July Law, regulating the contentious jurisdiction.
