Rafael Medina Carnicer received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Sevilla (Spain) in 1978 and his Ph.D. degree from the University Politecnic of Madrid (Spain) in 1992. It was the founder of Artificial Vision Group of Cordoba University in 1998 and currently it is the Group leader. Since then, he has been working with the Department of Computing and Numerical Analysis of Cordoba University where he is currently a full professor. His research is focused mainly on computer vision and image processing. He has co-authored more than one hundred papers in conferences, books, and top-ranked journals.. He has advised many Ph.D. students and leadered more than fifteen projects, both industrial and scientific. As a teacher, he has been teaching for more than thirt years. He is also the leader of Artificial Vision Group at the Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba (IMIBIC).
